NDMA Arranges Airlift for Stranded Tourists in Gilgit-Baltistan Amid Devastating Floods
Islamabad reported two deaths, while one person lost their life in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
Gilgit – In response to the severe flooding situation in Gilgit-Baltistan, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has arranged an airlift to evacuate both domestic and foreign tourists stranded in the region. The operation will be conducted using a Pakistan Air Force C-130 aircraft, with the flight scheduled for Thursday, July 24.
Local administration officials have urged all tourists wishing to travel on this evacuation flight to promptly submit their details, including full name, father’s or husband’s name, and national identity card number. For further information or assistance, tourists are advised to contact the office of the Additional Deputy Commissioner in Gilgit.
Meanwhile, the NDMA has reported 13 new fatalities related to ongoing monsoon rains across Pakistan in the past 24 hours. Along with the deaths, 13 people sustained injuries in various rain-related incidents. Punjab has suffered the highest number of casualties, recording seven deaths, followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with three fatalities due to heavy rains and flooding.
