NCCIA Busts Illegal Call Centre in Lahore, Arrests Two Fraud Suspects
Agency says the crackdown on fake call centres targeting foreign citizens will continue across the country.
LAHORE: The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has raided an illegal call centre in Lahore and arrested its owner and one employee. The group was cheating American citizens over the phone.
The call centre was running inside Hafeez Centre. Officers identified the owner as Irshad Ahmad Butt and the employee as Aurangzeb.
The agency acted after receiving credible information. A special team led by Additional Director Atif Amir carried out the raid.
According to officials, the suspects pretended to work for insurance companies. They called American nationals and gained their trust.
Then they asked for debit and credit card details. These details could be misused to steal money from the victims.
During the raid, the team seized the latest laptops and three mobile phones from the accused. These devices are now under forensic examination.
Officers say the first check of the devices has already revealed important information about online fraud. Investigators believe this data may help them find more people linked to the network.
Additional Director Atif Amir said the crackdown on illegal call centres will go on. He added that anyone cheating citizens will face strict action under the law.
This is not the first action of its kind. On October 11, 2026, NCCIA Lahore arrested 37 suspects from another illegal call centre in Johar Town.
That group targeted people in the United States and Canada through a fake mobile phone sales scheme. The agency seized 80 digital devices in that raid, including five CPUs, 40 laptops and 35 mobile phones.
Officials say all seized devices are being examined to collect more evidence. Further arrests may follow as the investigation moves ahead.
