Nawaz wants action against ex-CJP Nisar over ‘violating constitution’
Foreign-funded campaign launched to turn youth against Pakistan, Maryam
LONDON– In a statement made on Tuesday, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Mian Nawaz Sharif spoke out against former Chief Justice Saqib Nisar, claiming that he had violated the constitution and broken the law.
Nawaz Sharif expressed his frustration with the former chief justice, stating that he could not say what he really thought about Mr Nisar on the microphone.
He went on to argue that anyone who breaks the law should be sent straight to jail.
Mr Sharif’s comments come on the heels of similar accusations made by former Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court, Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui. In a statement made yesterday, Mr Siddiqui accused Nisar of a range of violations, raising questions about his conduct and fitness for office.
Recently, in an alleged audio leak former Cheif Justice Saqib Nisar’s son, Najam Saqib was heard demanding money for allegedly providing Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s ticket to a candidate from PP 137.
Regardless of the outcome of the ongoing debate, it is clear that the controversy surrounding Nisar will continue to be a major topic of discussion in Pakistan’s political and legal circles for some time to come.
Meanwhile,
(PML-N) vice president Maryam Nawaz reviewed the ongoing membership campaign of youth and women wings across Punjab in a recent meeting held in Lahore.
The meeting discussed the progress of youth and women joining the party through QR code as well.
Maryam Nawaz expressed her satisfaction with the registration process of youth and women, while thanking them for their active participation.
Speaking on the occasion, she highlighted the importance of youth and women participation in the political process, stating that they were the most populous sections of society and their involvement could bring a significant change in the political landscape.
Furthermore, she emphasised that involving the youth in decision-making was crucial for securing their future, and that organized conspiracies to discourage the youth from Pakistan would fail.
She stated that the youth were the future leadership and PML-N would make them the architects of the nation, empowering them to make correct political decisions for a better future.
Maryam Nawaz also commented on a foreign-funded campaign being conducted to turn the youth against Pakistan, highlighting the importance of involving women in the political process to end exploitation.
