Nawaz Sharif Addresses Crowd in Mansehra, Expresses Concerns about Country’s Situation
Former Prime Minister and leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, addressed a gathering in Mansehra, stating that he has returned not to become the Prime Minister but to participate in the upcoming elections.
Speaking at the rally, Nawaz Sharif remarked that since his last visit to Mansehra in 2013, nothing significant has changed in the region. He acknowledged the enthusiasm of the audience and humorously asked if they were happier to see him or if he was more delighted to see them.
Expressing concern over the current state of the country, Nawaz Sharif mentioned that observing the current situation doesn’t bring him joy. He clarified, “I have come not to become the Prime Minister but to participate in the elections. Looking at the state of the nation, I am not pleased.”
Sharif criticized the performance of the ruling government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the past ten years, questioning the tangible changes brought about during their tenure. He urged the audience to visit the motorways in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to witness the development, emphasizing that he has left no gaps in making the province better.
Highlighting the commitment of the PML-N, Nawaz Sharif announced plans to build an airport in Mansehra if his party comes into power. He asserted that under his leadership, Mansehra would not have unemployed youth, emphasizing the need to make Khyber Pakhtunkhwa the best province.
Refuting claims about his alleged projects, Sharif mentioned, “If I had not been ousted, today Mansehra would have an airport and a metro bus system. When the motorways were being constructed, I was in jail.”
Addressing the economic challenges, Nawaz Sharif blamed the current authorities for the inflation, stating that during his tenure, the country did not experience such hardships. He also mentioned a conversation with Maulana Fazlur Rehman, where the latter proposed forming a government together in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Sharif responded by acknowledging Fazlur Rehman’s numerical majority and emphasized that the decision lies with him.
