Nawaz Sharif laments lost opportunity for Pakistan’s Economic Transformation

LAHORE: Leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Nawaz Sharif has shared his perspective on the progress and challenges faced by the country. Acknowledging the difficulties encountered, Sharif emphasized the resilience needed to endure various hardships in life.
Reflecting on the year 2017, Sharif highlighted that Pakistan experienced positive momentum and progress under his government. He noted that the nation was witnessing constructive developments and that many individuals who were present in the political landscape in 1985 continue to work alongside him.
Speaking at a parliamentary board meeting of the PML-N on Tuesday, Nawaz Sharif mentioned that his government brought about significant improvements in the country. He expressed satisfaction with the industrialization efforts and emphasized the ongoing development in Pakistan.
Sharif noted that despite facing challenges, the policies implemented during his government’s tenure yielded positive results. He mentioned that Pakistan’s economic growth reached 6.2%, and the nation successfully overcame the default situation it faced in 2013.
Nawaz Sharif specifically pointed out the efforts to end load shedding, stating that the promise to eliminate power outages was fulfilled within six months. He highlighted that the nation’s progress led to a reduction in terrorism, bringing an end to the menace.
Discussing his government’s interaction with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Sharif recalled confidently addressing the institution as “God’s guardian” during negotiations.
