Nawaz Sharif Credits PML-N’s By-Election Win to Performance, Slams PTI Leadership
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz was also present on the occasion.
Lahore: PML-N President Nawaz Sharif met with the newly elected PML-N members of the Punjab Assembly in Lahore, where they held detailed discussions on the results of the by-elections, the economic situation, and the government’s performance.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz was also present on the occasion.
Congratulating the members on their election victory, Nawaz Sharif said that the public had given the PML-N a clear mandate in the by-elections based on its performance. He said that the PML-N had defeated the narrative of hatred, lies, and chaos.
He claimed that during the PML-N government, the inflation rate was 3%, whereas during the PTI government it increased to 39%. “The state of the country under their [Imran Khan’s] rule is something the nation is still suffering from,” he added.
The former prime minister said that in 2017 the country was on the path of progress, and if that pace had continued, Pakistan would not be worried about the IMF today.
He said that due to the steps taken by the current government, inflation has decreased, and the country has been pulled back from the brink of default and brought toward stability.
Once again criticizing the PTI leadership, Nawaz Sharif said, “The founder of PTI is not the only culprit; those who brought him are even bigger culprits.”
He further said that during the opponents’ tenure, merit was destroyed, institutions weakened, and “their narrative was nothing but discord, chaos, and baseless accusations.”
He added that in Punjab, construction of 120,000 new homes for the poor is underway, and free medicines, free treatment, new hospitals, laptops for students, and the introduction of green buses are among the government’s major achievements. “Law and order in Punjab has improved, and people’s sense of security has increased.”

Nawaz Sharif also said that the government is continuing public welfare projects without any religious discrimination, and that the Punjab government performed excellently during the floods.
Questioning PTI’s claim of boycotting elections, he said, “What kind of boycott is this in which Omar Ayub’s wife herself is contesting the election?”
Commenting on the situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he said that the IGP is changed every three days, there is no consistent policy, and no development work is visible.
Nawaz Sharif instructed the assembly members to focus on future strategy and give priority to economic recovery through political stability.
