ISLAMABAD:  On World Anti-Narcotics and Trafficking Day, Federal Minister of Interior and Narcotics Control, Mohsin Naqvi, underscored the imperative of unified efforts to eradicate drug abuse and foster a healthier society in Pakistan.

Addressing the persistent threats posed by drug use, Minister Naqvi emphasized the necessity for coordinated and comprehensive measures. He highlighted the National Anti-Narcotics Policy’s initiatives, focusing on reducing both drug demand and supply while promoting international cooperation.

“The severity of drug-related challenges demands that we prioritize this national battle. Success in our fight against drugs hinges upon national unity,” Naqvi asserted.

He stressed the importance of awareness campaigns, community engagement, and robust law enforcement to curb the scourge of drug abuse. Minister Naqvi praised the dedication of the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) and other agencies in combating drug trafficking, acknowledging the sacrifices made by ANF officers and personnel in pursuit of a drug-free Pakistan.

Islamabad High Court Declares Arrest of Shireen Mazari Illegal

ISLAMABAD: Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani of the Islamabad High Court has ruled the arrest of former federal minister Shireen Mazari as illegal. The court’s verdict not only declared the arrest unlawful but also nullified the commission’s report associated with the case.

Shireen Mazari was apprehended by Anti-Corruption Punjab on May 21, 2022. Following her arrest, the court’s decision has prompted orders for an investigation by the Secretary Establishment Division and Punjab Home Department.

The ruling marks a significant development in the legal proceedings concerning Mazari, emphasizing judicial scrutiny over the legality of arrests and administrative reports.
