National Unity Honored: Pakistan Mourns & Celebrates the Sacrifice of Sepoy Haroon William and Comrades

RAWALPINDI: The city of Rawalpindi witnessed a poignant tribute today as the nation gathered to honor the ultimate sacrifice of Sepoy Haroon William, a 29-year-old resident of Islamabad. The devoted Christian soldier embraced martyrdom yesterday in Kurram District during counter-terrorism operations, exemplifying bravery and commitment to the defense of Pakistan.

The funeral service was held at Saint Paul’s Church, Rawalpindi, and was attended by a host of dignitaries including the Prime Minister of Pakistan, the Defence Minister, the Interior Minister, the Minister of Information & Broadcasting, and the Chief of Army Staff. Senior civil and military officers, soldiers, citizens, and relatives of the martyr also paid their respects.

In his address, the Prime Minister lauded the significant contributions and sacrifices of the Christian community, emphasizing their crucial role in the nation’s progress. He highlighted the cohesion within the Armed Forces of Pakistan, noting that individuals from diverse backgrounds unite for the collective defense of the state.

Chief of Army Staff, General Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), honored the bravery of Sepoy Haroon William and his comrades, including Sepoy Anosh Rufun, and underscored their exemplary unity and valor. He reaffirmed the nation’s eternal gratitude for their services and sacrifices, which uphold the honor and integrity of the motherland.
