National Assembly Passes Unanimous Resolution in Solidarity with Palestine

Politics should not be done on the Palestinian issue.

ISLAMABAD: In a rare display of unity, the National Assembly on Monday passed a unanimous resolution expressing strong solidarity with the oppressed people of Palestine amid the ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza. The session, chaired by Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, witnessed both government and opposition parties coming together to condemn what they called “criminal Israeli actions” against innocent Palestinians.

Presented by Federal Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar, the resolution denounced Israel’s continued military operations in Gaza, which have resulted in the martyrdom of over 1,600 Palestinians since March 18. The resolution expressed full solidarity with the Palestinian people and criticized the international community’s silence on the issue.

Key demands in the resolution included:

  • Immediate withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza

  • Recognition of Palestine as a full member of the United Nations

  • Stronger international action to end the violence

The session was adjourned indefinitely after the resolution was passed.

Minister Tarar Slams Political Point-Scoring

During the session, Information Minister Ataullah Tarar firmly opposed politicizing the Palestinian issue. Without naming anyone, he condemned attempts to gain political mileage from the situation and emphasized the need for unity.

“Politics should not be done on the Palestinian issue. This House must remain sacred for such discussions,” he said.

He also reiterated Pakistan’s long-standing position against recognizing Israel, emphasizing that it is stated on Pakistani passports that travel to Israel is not permitted. “We do not accept Israel nor believe in its legitimacy,” he stated.

Humanitarian Efforts for Palestinians Highlighted

Minister Tarar also highlighted Pakistan’s ongoing humanitarian support for Palestine. He shared that over 200 Palestinian children are being brought to Pakistan for medical education. Furthermore, Al-Khidmat Foundation has sent several tons of relief goods to Palestine through Egypt and Jordan.

He concluded with an emotional appeal: “We love the land of Palestine. Let our actions and words send a strong message — we stand with Palestine in every situation.”

The National Assembly’s rare show of unity sends a powerful message of support to the Palestinian people during their ongoing struggle.
