Nasir Jamshed Apologises After Seven Years Over Fixing

Nasir Jamshed Seeks Forgiveness Years After Match-Fixing Scandal

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – Pakistani cricketer Nasir Jamshed has finally issued a public apology seven years after being involved in the match-fixing scandal.

Speaking to a private television channel, Jamshed became emotional while recalling his past and said that the time he spent in jail was the most difficult period of his life, adding that he had even thought about suicide during those days.

He apologised to the people of Pakistan and cricket fans around the world for his actions and advised young players to never choose the path of corruption.

Jamshed said that domestic problems, his father’s accident and financial pressure pushed him into making a wrong decision, and he opted for shortcuts. On his lawyer’s advice, he initially did not confess his crime and also cut off contact with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

It is worth recalling that Manchester Crown Court sentenced him to 17 months in prison in the spot-fixing case, while the PCB imposed a 10-year ban following an investigation by its Anti-Corruption Unit.

Nasir Jamshed has now appealed to the PCB chairman to waive the remaining one year of his ban so that he can reconnect with cricket once again.
