NAB Launches Probe into Walton Airport Closure

NAB Lahore has also reached out to the Aircraft Owners and Operators Association for assistance in this probe.

Lahore: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore Circle has initiated an investigation into the closure of Walton Airport, focusing on former Director General Khaqan Murtaza and other civil aviation officials.

NAB has formulated 13 key questions directed at Khaqan Murtaza regarding the controversial shutdown of Walton Airport and its subsequent conversion for commercial activities. The investigation seeks to uncover the underlying reasons for the airport’s closure, according to media reports.

NAB Lahore has also reached out to the Aircraft Owners and Operators Association for assistance in this probe. A detailed questionnaire has been sent to the association, requesting their cooperation and insights into the matter.

In May 2021, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) ordered the closure of Walton Airport and instructed all flying clubs operating there to ground their aircraft. This decision has since sparked significant controversy and prompted the current investigation.
