Mustafa Kamal Announces Major Crackdown on Fake and Expensive Medicines
Plans are in place to expand the number of hospitals over the next ten years.
ISLAMABAD: Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal has announced that within the next two months, the sale of fake and overpriced medicines will be reduced by 99 percent.
Speaking to the media, Mustafa Kamal stated that efforts are underway to implement barcode labeling on medicine packaging to regulate market sales. He also mentioned ongoing collaboration with industries to boost the export of pharmaceutical devices.
The minister emphasized that the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) monitors medicines and licenses, and the government is committed to increasing medicine exports. Additionally, plans are in place to expand the number of hospitals over the next ten years.
Meanwhile, Mustafa Kamal inaugurated the Health Asia Exhibition at the Expo Center, an event attended by consuls general from various countries.

Highlighting the progress of Pakistan’s healthcare sector, the minister said, “Pakistan’s healthcare department is embracing new innovations, and the health sector will be the backbone of the economy in the future.”
