Murree Completes Arrangements for Snowfall Season
Strict security measures will also be enforced at key locations
MURREE: Murree snowfall arrangements have been officially activated as authorities prepare for a large number of tourists during the winter vacation period.
The Punjab government has made 19 facilitation centres operational across GT Road, motorway routes, and roads connecting Murree with Azad Kashmir and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
These centres will remain open 24 hours a day throughout the snowfall season, with officers from all concerned departments working in shifts.
To manage traffic and ensure public safety, the number of traffic police officers and civil defence volunteers has been increased. Authorities have also started monitoring vehicles entering Murree from all toll plazas.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department will issue snowfall alerts every ten hours to keep departments and tourists informed.

Officials expect a sharp rise in visitors as winter holidays begin this week, with a major rush anticipated from Friday, December 19. Tourist families from across the country are likely to travel to Murree during this period.
For snow clearance, 26 snow-removal vehicles have been deployed along with sufficient stocks of salt and chemicals. These vehicles will operate round the clock as soon as snowfall starts, with three trained staff members assigned to each machine.
Parking on roadsides during snowfall has been strictly banned, and vehicles found violating the rule will be taken away by police to avoid traffic congestion and accidents.
Strict security measures will also be enforced at key locations, including Mall Road, Pindi Point, Kashmir Point, GPO Chowk and the main market. Women police personnel have been deployed to assist families and ensure smooth crowd management.
In addition, a volunteer force made up of local youth has been formed to help control crowds and prevent fights during busy days.
