PTI has confirmed Murad Saeed’s resignation from the Senate.
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Murad Saeed has resigned from his Senate seat and submitted his resignation to the Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan through a formal letter.
In his resignation, Murad Saeed stated that the current parliament is based on what he termed a “fake and illegitimate” foundation and accused it of playing a role in disrespecting the public mandate. He said that in the prevailing political situation, the party should make tough decisions and immediately consider withdrawing from the parliamentary system.
Murad Saeed advised his party leadership to tender collective resignations not only from the Senate but also from other legislative bodies to send a clear political message regarding the public mandate. According to sources, he proposed that the party resign en masse from the Senate as well as the National and Provincial Assemblies.
