Muhammad Shoaib, Muzammil Murtaza Reach Final of 37th OGDCL Federal Cup Tennis Championship
Barkatullah and Yousaf Khalil also secured a spot in the doubles final
Islamabad – The 37th OGDCL Federal Cup National Ranking Tennis Championships 2025 have entered their decisive phase at the PTF-SDA Tennis Complex, Islamabad, with top national talent battling for ranking glory.
In the Men’s Singles semifinals, top seed Muhammad Shoaib stormed into the final with a dominant 6-1, 6-0 victory over Yousaf Khalil. Shoaib’s consistent serve and aggressive baseline play left no room for his opponent to recover.
The other semifinal delivered high drama as third seed Muzammil Murtaza pulled off a sensational comeback against second seed and veteran star Aqeel Khan of WAPDA. After dropping the first set 3-6 and trailing 1-4 in the second, Muzammil staged a remarkable fightback, winning the second set 6-3 with a mix of power and precision. He led 3-0 in the final set when Aqeel was forced to retire due to fatigue, sending Muzammil into the final.

In junior action, Muhammad Yahya advanced to the Boys’ 18 & Under Singles semifinals with a hard-fought win over promising youngster Rayyan Khan Khalil. After losing the first set 2-6, Yahya bounced back strongly to take the next two sets 6-3, 6-1.
The Girls’ 12 & Under Singles final saw Khadija Khalil claim the title with a straight-sets win over Umer Shahnoor, 4-1, 4-0.
In Men’s Doubles, the pair of Muhammad Shoaib and Muzammil Murtaza defeated Ahmad Nael Qureshi and Saqib Hayat 6-1, 7-5 to book their place in the final. Barkatullah and Yousaf Khalil also secured a spot in the doubles final after beating Abdullah Adnan and Saifullah Khan 6-3, 6-4.
The tournament continues tomorrow with the much-anticipated Ladies’ Singles final between Mehaq Khokhar and Noor Malik, as well as the Boys’ 14 & Under Singles final scheduled for 9:00 AM.
