MQM-Pakistan Leader Calls for Tax Abolition on Rs 12 Lakh Salaried Class

ISLAMABAAD: Aminul Haque, a prominent leader of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Pakistan, has urged the National Assembly to abolish taxes for salaried individuals earning up to Rs 12 lakh annually.

Addressing the assembly, MQM-Pakistan’s Member of National Assembly Aminul Haq emphasized the need for economic reforms, highlighting concerns over the country’s financial situation compared to neighboring Afghanistan and India.

Haque supported the allocation of 2100 billion rupees for defense, stressing the importance of Pakistan’s security amidst ongoing challenges. He underscored the role of Pakistan’s armed forces in safeguarding national borders.

Furthermore, Haq called for an increase in compensation under the Employees’ Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) from 10 to 12 thousand rupees. He also advocated for the removal of taxes on the annual income bracket of Rs 12 lakh for salaried individuals, aiming to alleviate financial burdens.
Additionally, the MQM leader proposed the abolition of a 10% GST on newsprint to support the struggling print media industry and mitigate rising unemployment among journalists.

Regarding legislative matters, Haq highlighted efforts to amend the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA), urging the government to consult with media stakeholders including APNS, CPNE, and PFUJ.
He further suggested imposing agricultural taxes and advocating for taxation on profits from wheat sales to boost revenue generation.

As discussions unfold in the National Assembly, Haque’s proposals are set to ignite debates on fiscal policy and economic reforms aimed at benefiting Pakistan’s workforce and media sector.
