MQM-P to meet PML-N in Lahore today; coalition talks progress

On Saturday, Shehbaz Sharif convened with former President Asif Ali Zardari in Lahore.

LAHORE: Representatives from the Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) are scheduled to meet with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) luminary Nawaz Sharif in Lahore today, as announced by party spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb on Sunday.

In a post shared via X, formerly known as Twitter, Aurangzeb detailed that the MQM delegation, under the leadership of Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, will convene with Nawaz Sharif, at Raiwind at 11:30 AM.

Expected to attend the gathering are the former prime minister and incumbent President of the PML-N, Shehbaz Sharif, alongside Chief Organiser Maryam Nawaz Sharif and other dignitaries from the party.

Nawaz Sharif, in a bid to foster collaboration among political factions, had earlier extended invitations to various parties to form a cohesive coalition government. Asserting the PML-N’s dominance by virtue of securing the highest number of seats in the elections, Sharif positioned his party as the “single-largest party.”

To spearhead negotiations and consolidate support, he delegated the task to his brother Shehbaz Sharif, who has since engaged with the heads of the Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP), Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), and MQM-P.
