Moscow & Tehran sign a $25 billion nuclear plant pact.

The $25 billion agreement for four new reactors comes as UN sanctions are set to be reimposed on Iran this weekend.

Moscow & Tehran – (Special Correspondent / Web Desk) – Iran and Russia have agreed to a massive $25 billion deal. The plan is to build four new nuclear power plants inside Iran. This news was shared by Iranian state media on a Friday.

The official state television announced that an Iranian company and Russia’s Rosatom agency signed the deal. The new plants will be built in the Sirik area of Hormozgan province.

Currently, Iran has only one large nuclear power plant, located in Bushehr. It provides just a small part of the country’s total electricity needs. The new plants are expected to be much more powerful.

This agreement happens at a tense time. Sanctions from the United Nations are expected to be put back on Iran very soon. Some European countries decided to trigger these sanctions last month.

Other world powers are involved, too. China and Russia recently proposed a delay to allow for more talks. However, Western countries have long been worried that Iran wants to build nuclear weapons, which Iran strongly denies. The original nuclear deal has been under stress since the United States left it in 2018.
