Mohsin Naqvi, UAE Customs DG agree to simplify immigration procedures
Pakistan and UAE agree to pilot pre-immigration clearance in Karachi, easing travel, saving time, and improving passenger experience for travelers.
UAE – PK – (Special Correspondent / Web Desk) – A United Arab Emirates delegation, led by Director General Customs and Port Security Ahmed bin Lahij Al-Falasi, met Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi in Islamabad on Tuesday. The discussion focused on strengthening Pakistan-UAE relations, enhancing mutual cooperation, and easing immigration procedures for travelers.
Both sides agreed to sign a formal Pre-Immigration Clearance agreement between Pakistan and the UAE. Under this arrangement, immigration and related passenger clearances will be completed within Pakistan before departure. The system will be introduced on a pilot basis, with Karachi selected as the first city for its initial rollout.
He said after the implementation of this system, passengers will not need to go through the lengthy immigration process upon arrival in the UAE.
Passengers will be able to exit the airport directly like domestic passengers, Mohsin Naqvi said.
Mohsin Naqvi said this initiative will facilitate travel, save time and improve the overall experience for passengers.
The UAE delegation expressed its commitment to all kinds of cooperation, describing this initiative as beneficial for the people of both countries.
Relevant authorities will continue to coordinate to finalize the administrative and technical aspects of the pilot project.
After the successful pilot, the system will be gradually expanded to more locations.
The delegation included Executive Director Digital Transformation Jama Abdullah Al Qabi, Executive Director Airports Hammad Saif Al Mashghouni and other senior officials.
Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry and Federal Secretary Interior Khurram Agha were also present in the meeting.
