Mirpur Police Crack Down on Crime: 3-Member Gang Arrested for Dacoities
Mirpur-(Mudassar Iqbal)-Mirpur’s Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Khawar Ali Shaukat, announced the arrest of a 3-member inter-provincial gang responsible for multiple dacoities in the Afzalpur police station limits and Mirpur district. The stolen goods have been recovered, and a 5-member gang that robbed a businessman from Jahangira KP of over Rs. 1 crore has also been apprehended, with Rs 35 lakh recovered.
According to SSP Shaukat, the arrests were made possible through modern scientific investigations. The accused, identified as Tauseef Azhar, Adeel, and Imtiaz Ahmed, were found to have committed multiple robberies and thefts, with 69 cases registered against Tauseef, 11 against Adeel, and 20 against Imtiaz in various police stations across Pakistan.
The police also recovered stolen goods, including two used motorcycles, two mobile phones, and cash worth approximately Rs 5 lakh. Additionally, three pistols, two magazines, and six revolvers were seized.
In another incident, a 6-member gang was arrested for committing fraud and forgery, stealing crores of rupees by pretending to be a legitimate business. One accused is still at large, but Rs 3.5 million has been recovered so far.
The police also foiled an attempt to smuggle arms from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Mirpur, recovering 23,500 rounds of illegal 30-bore ammunition. Two arms smugglers, Naqeeb Khan and Amjad Khan, were arrested, and their vehicle was seized.
Furthermore, the police conducted several operations in December, resulting in the registration of 34 accused in 19 drug cases, with the recovery of 355 bottles, 180 liters of liquor, 5 kg 130 grams of hashish, and 165 grams of ice. Seven accused were also registered in five cases of illegal weapons, with the recovery of nine pistols, 23,543 rounds, and nine magazines.
SSP Shaukat emphasized that Mirpur district is a peaceful region with no room for criminal elements. The police are committed to protecting the lives and property of the people and eliminating crimes. He appealed to the public to cooperate with the police and inform them of any crimes in their vicinity. The police are also urging citizens to register their private security personnel with the police to facilitate data collection.
Under the Safe City Project, CCTV cameras will be installed in Mirpur, which will be monitored by the police to aid in investigating crimes. SSP Shaukat assured that the police will continue to take strong action against criminal elements, and with the public’s cooperation, they can eliminate 100% of crimes
