Ministry of Interior rejected reports, increasing of machine readable passport fee

Islamabad: (Staff Reporter) The Ministry of Interior has rejected reports about hike in fee for machine readable passport. A spokesperson of the ministry termed the reports baseless and unfounded, saying misleading information was being spread on social media.
According to the source, the spokesperson added that government had announced the launch the e-passport facility that will enable citizens to get their passport through an online application.
As per details Directorate General Immigration & Passports had announced a fee for e-passport service, which is yet to be started, while keeping the fees for other passport types unchanged.
However, social media users misinterpreted the announcement and started spreading rumor that the government had jacked up the fee.
