Islamabad –The Ministry of Interior has officially issued a notification regarding the repatriation of Afghan nationals holding Proof of Registration (PoR) cards, marking a significant policy decision concerning foreign nationals residing in Pakistan.
According to the notification, the voluntary repatriation of PoR cardholders will begin immediately, with the process formally commencing from September 1, 2025. This move comes in response to security concerns and increasing pressure on national resources, as discussed in a high-level meeting held earlier this week.
The return of Afghan Citizen Card (ACC) holders will continue as per the previously issued directives by the International Framework for Repatriation Policy (IFRP).
The Ministry has also stated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will collaborate with international organizations and the Afghan interim government to ensure a smooth and coordinated return process.
To streamline operations, the Ministry of Interior has appointed a Section Officer (Security) as the focal person for managing and overseeing the repatriation of PoR cardholders.
