Minister Abdul Aleem Khan Pushes for Overhaul of Pakistan Postal Service
Key meeting emphasizes financial discipline and modern reforms to ensure the postal service’s sustainability.
Islamabad-(Mudassar Iqbal): Federal Minister for Investment Board, Communications, and Privatization, Abdul Aleem Khan, led a crucial meeting with the Communication Focal Group to discuss revitalizing the Pakistan Postal Service and enforcing tighter financial management.
To increase revenue, he suggested setting up NADRA and passport service counters at general stores and pharmacies across the country, aiming to improve accessibility while raising funds.
Minister Khan emphasized the need for quick action, instructing officials to develop a financial strategy for Pakistan Post within a week to address inefficiencies and reduce reliance on government funds.
He stressed the importance of reform, stating that the organization “cannot sustain itself with high costs and low revenue,” and called for eliminating unfilled positions.
The minister directed senior officials to formulate a modernized policy framework for the postal service and encouraged staff to work diligently, asserting, “We must leave behind complacency and put in full effort to save Pakistan Post.”
The federal secretary of communications has been tasked with submitting a detailed report on financial targets and operational improvements within the week.
