Miller’s heroics guide South Africa to victory over Netherlands
NEW YORK ;David Miller’s timely fifty helped South Africa beat the Netherlands by four wicket in a group stage match of the T20 World Cup 2024 at the Nassau County Cricket Stadium in New York on Sunday.
After tumbling start in reply to Netherland’s 103 runs, Tristan Stubbs managed to put his side on the track with 33 runs.
After his removal, David Miller maintained the momentum and smashed 59 runs to ensure win for Protease.
South Africa achieved the target of 104 runs with 7 balls spare to play.
Earlier, the Netherlands set a target of 104 runs for South Africa. The Orange force lost its first three wickets in quick session before No 4 batsman, Sybrand Engelbrecht, showed impressive performance.
He smashed 40 off 45 when he was dismissed by Baartman, serving a blow to Netherlands. After his departure, Logan van Beek from tail order attempted to build a reasonable total before he also fell victim to Baartman.
