Meta Launches Official WhatsApp App for Apple Watch

Meta has confirmed that all messages and calls on the Apple Watch will remain end-to-end encrypted, just like on other platforms.

ISLAMABAD: Meta has brought good news for WhatsApp users, introducing an official app specifically designed for the Apple Watch.

According to reports, the long-awaited Apple Watch app is now available, allowing users to receive message and call notifications directly on their wrist without needing to take out their phone.

Currently, the app is available in the beta version for Apple Watch. This launch follows the success of WhatsApp’s Wear OS app and aims to make communication easier and more accessible for users right from their wrist.

Previously, Apple Watch users could only receive notifications for new messages. With the new app, they can now interact with messages directly, receive call notifications, read full messages, and record or send voice messages.

Meta has confirmed that all messages and calls on the Apple Watch will remain end-to-end encrypted, just like on other platforms.

The app functions as an extension of the iPhone app and is designed for fast and seamless usage. It also includes a connection indicator to show whether the watch is connected to the phone, helping users easily monitor synchronization.

WhatsApp has stated that more features will be added to the app in the future as part of the company’s broader strategy to expand its accessibility. Previously, iPad users could only use WhatsApp via a web browser.
