Meta Introduces Silent Exit Feature for WhatsApp Groups

Scroll down and tap “Exit Group.” A confirmation popup will appear.

ISLAMABAD: Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, has announced new privacy features allowing users to leave group chats silently, without notifying all members.

Previously, leaving a group triggered a public notification visible to everyone, which could lead to awkward questions or unwanted attention. With the new feature, only group admins are informed when a member exits, while other participants remain unaware.

How to Leave a WhatsApp Group Silently:

  1. Open WhatsApp: Launch the app on your phone and go to the group you want to leave.

  2. Access Group Info: Tap the group name at the top of the chat to open the group info page.

  3. Select “Exit Group”: Scroll down and tap “Exit Group.” A confirmation popup will appear.

  4. Leave Silently: Confirm your choice. Only admins will be notified; other members will not see any “XYZ has left the group” message.

  5. Manage Notifications: If not ready to leave, users can mute notifications or archive the group to hide it from the main chat list.

This update aims to give users more privacy and control over their group chat participation.
