Convicts Sentenced for Role in May 9 Protests and Unrest

LAHORE: The process of transferring convicts involved in the May 9 tragedy has begun, with eleven individuals sentenced by military courts now moved to Kot Lakhpat Jail to serve their respective prison terms.

The authorities confirmed that seven of the convicts have been sentenced to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment, while two others received six-year sentences. Additionally, one convict was handed a four-year sentence, and another was sentenced to two years. These individuals were convicted for their involvement in the violent events that unfolded on May 9, a day marked by widespread protests and unrest across the country.

The convicts, who hail from different parts of Pakistan, will now serve their sentences in the high-security Kot Lakhpat Jail. Of the eleven, eight individuals are from Lahore, two are from the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, and one is from Nowshera.
