Maulana Fazlur Rehman Renews Call for Fresh Elections
Speaking at a press conference in Peshawar on Sunday, Rehman criticized the current parliament, labeling it as “fake” and asserting that it has no legitimacy to push for constitutional amendments. “They are attempting to impose martial law through these amendments, and we do not support such actions,” he stated.
He accused the government of manipulating constitutional changes for political advantage, arguing that the current parliament lacks the authority to make such crucial amendments to the constitution.
Rehman reiterated JUI-F’s support for constitutional courts, referencing the Charter of Democracy agreed upon by ruling parties.
Shifting focus to international matters, he expressed concern over the escalating conflict in Lebanon, warning that it could potentially drag the entire world into turmoil. He alleged that Israel aims to spread the war across the Arab world and Gulf nations.
