Massive Gathering Marks First Death Anniversary of Martyred Journalist Nasrullah Gadani in Mirpur Mathelo

Call for Journalist Protection Amid Rising Threats in Pakistan

Mirpur Mathelo (By Tanveer Ahmed Soomro) — The first death anniversary of martyred journalist Nasrullah Gadani was observed with great reverence in his native village, Qabool Gadani. Thousands of people, including prominent political, social, and journalist leaders from across Sindh, gathered to pay tribute to the late journalist who was killed a year ago for fearlessly speaking and writing the truth.

The solemn ceremony served as a powerful reminder of Gadani’s courage and commitment to truth and justice. Speakers at the event, including Nemat Khuhro, Ghazi Jhandir, Mian Farooq Ahmed, Shaista Khoso, Faqir Ramzan Kalwar, Kamal Mahar, Asad Pitafi, Barkat Mirani, Waqar Bozdar, Noman Sindhi, and others, lauded the bravery of the slain journalist.

They stated that “martyrs are always alive,” and hailed Nasrullah Gadani for his unwavering stance against injustice and influential powers. “He gave his life defending the rights of the oppressed and never bowed to pressure,” said one of the speakers.

The gathering also expressed disappointment over the lack of progress in the investigation into Gadani’s murder. A full year after the brutal assassination, the Sindh government has yet to apprehend those responsible or bring the perpetrators and facilitators to justice.

In a strong show of solidarity, participants pledged continued support to the family of Nasrullah Gadani and vowed to continue their struggle until justice is delivered.
