Saudi Air Defences Intercept Missiles as Explosions Shake Riyadh

Riyadh – (Web Desk) – On Wednesday, Saudi Arabia said its air defences were responding to ballistic missiles. Loud explosions were heard across the capital, Riyadh, as AFP journalists reported.

People in the city also received phone alerts saying the area was under a hostile aerial threat.

A spokesperson from the Saudi defence ministry told X that the air defences were actively dealing with the threat over Riyadh.

Later, the civil defence reported on X that “the danger has passed in Riyadh”.

The Gulf kingdom has been regularly targeted by Iranian missile and drone attacks, including some aimed at its massive energy installations and the capital’s diplomatic quarter.
