Massive Crackdown: 12 Afghans Arrested in Islamabad, Punjab
Illegal Afghan nationals arrested during coordinated crackdown across Islamabad and Punjab, with extensive searches, document checks, and security tightening nationwide.
Islamabad – (Web Desk) – A total of 12 Afghan nationals living illegally in Islamabad and several cities of upper Punjab were arrested during a major crackdown by law-enforcement agencies. Joint search and combing operations were carried out in Rawalpindi, Attock, Murree, Jhelum, and Chakwal, where officials searched neighborhoods, markets, and hotels. Those found without legal documents were taken into custody and cases were registered against them.
Authorities said the operation sends a clear message that anyone living in Pakistan must do so legally, and action against illegal immigrants will continue. According to reports, police, Pakistan Rangers, and the Counter Terrorism Department, along with intelligence agencies, took part in the operation, while security was also increased around mosques.
In Islamabad’s Tarnol and nearby areas, around 150 police officers, including women officers, participated with Rangers and CTD teams. During the operation, 165 houses were searched, 26 vehicles and 48 motorcycles were inspected, and 570 people were checked.
Overall, 51 people were arrested, including 16 Afghan nationals.
In Rawalpindi’s Dhok Kashmirian and adjoining areas within Sadiqabad Police Station limits, 50 houses, 15 vehicles, 10 motorcycles, and 120 individuals were checked.

Eleven individuals found without rental agreements were released after registration instructions and formal warnings.
In Chakwal, authorities searched 47 houses and shops, checked documents of 98 individuals, and involved Lady Police officers in the operation.
Search and combing operations continued against illegal Afghan nationals in Jhelum, in which 92 homes were checked, and mapping of 36 suspicious persons was concluded.
Pakistan to maintain policy if guerrilla mindset persists
Monitoring in Murree has also been intensified as part of the ongoing crackdown. During the operation, verification and screening of Afghan nationals’ documents were conducted.
Law enforcement agencies directed relevant officials to adopt zero tolerance policy against illegal Afghan nationals.
