ISLAMABAD-(ISRAR AHMED RAJPOOT)- An application has been filed on Tuesday to register a criminal case against Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz for hurling alleged threats to end the life of Pakistan’s former jailed Prime Minister Imran Khan while declaring him as “Fitna” in her speech in an event.
The application has been submitted at the Civil Lines Police Station by Ms Tabish Farooq, who is Advocate of High Court and residing in Rawalpindi.
However, the police have yet to decided either the application is maintainable as per law or not, according to a source inside police station.
Maryam Nawaz, the daughter of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif, is considered as a powerful chief minister of country’s largest province and an arch rival of Imran Khan, who is in Adiala Jail over corruption. She is under fire on social media as PTI followers and supporters accuse her of alleged threats to end the life of former prime minister Imran Khan inside Adiala Jail.
Advocate Ms Tabish Farooq, in her application, said that CM Punjab Nawaz Sharif, while addressing the event on 28 October, said Imran Khan is a “Fitna” who is going to be ended soon. She said that since the jail administration is treating the political prisoner Imran Khan, the ex PM, very badly; the statement of CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz is an ample proof that life of Imran Khan is under huge danger. “The CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz, who has full control over jails in province including Adiala Jail, is her self stating that Imran Khan is a “Fitna” and the end of “Fitna” is near,” she told police.
The applicant further stated that Maryam’s statement would have been in the category of premeditated murder and Imran Khan is languishing in Adiala Jail.
“The jail authorities have detained Imran Khan in a small cell and is being treated inhumanly with disconnecting the electricity for last five days,” she told police adding that Imran Khan also vomited due to unhygienic food served to him by jail administration. All these circumstances showed that Maryam Nawaz want to kill Imran Khan inside the jail, she said adding that the statements of Maryam Nawaz are proof of that plot for murder of PTI chief.
Ms Tabish Farooq requested police to initiate legal action agaisnt CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz and all the staffers of Adiala Jail including Superintendent as they all are ganged up to harm Imran Khan inside jail.
Police accepted the application and began discussing with Legal Branch for further action. A senior police officer told that the applicant had posted the application through GPO Rawalpindi that has been received by officials of PS Civil Lines.
