Maryam Nawaz Announces Rs1 Million Package for Injured Police Officers Following PTI Protests

The cabinet also expressed its condolences for the officers who lost their lives in the course of the protests, pledging full support to their families.

LAHORE: In response to the recent wave of violent protests led by PTI workers, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz chaired a meeting of the provincial cabinet in Lahore to address the situation and discuss the welfare of those affected.

During the meeting, the cabinet strongly condemned the violent actions of PTI protesters, which included attacks on police and Rangers personnel. The protests, which escalated into clashes, left several law enforcement officers injured.

To support the victims, the provincial government has announced a special financial package of Rs1 million for each of the police officers and Rangers personnel who were injured in the protests. Maryam Nawaz confirmed that 172 police officers sustained injuries as a result of the violence. The cabinet also expressed its condolences for the officers who lost their lives in the course of the protests, pledging full support to their families.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the provincial government would take strict action against those responsible for the unrest and vowed to ensure justice for the victims. “The government stands firmly with our police and Rangers personnel, and we will not allow violence against them to go unpunished,” she stated.

The announcement of the financial aid is part of the government’s broader effort to provide relief to those affected by the protests and to restore order in the region.
