Martyrdom Is Our Greatest Aspiration: DG ISPR

Pakistan’s Strength Lies in Resolve and Self-Reliance: Says Pakistan Army Spokesperson

IslamabadDirector General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, stated that the desire for martyrdom surpasses the love for life within the Pakistan Armed Forces. His remarks came during a special interview with China Media Group, where he addressed Pakistan’s strategic stance, regional challenges, and relations with neighboring countries, particularly India and China.

Responding comprehensively to each question with facts and clarity, DG ISPR emphasized that Pakistan’s true strength lies in its resolve and self-reliance. “After Allah, we depend most on ourselves,” he said, highlighting the nation’s unwavering commitment to sovereignty and peace.

Touching on regional tensions, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif criticized any nation attempting to dominate its neighbors through false narratives and baseless accusations. “In a world facing collective challenges like climate change and overpopulation, no country has the right to impose hegemony over another,” he said. He reiterated that the people of Pakistan have never bowed down and never will.

He further stated, “I’ve said it before and I say it again — our desire for martyrdom is greater than our desire for life. Whether in blue, white, or khaki uniform, martyrdom is an honor for us.”

On Pakistan-China relations, DG ISPR praised the longstanding friendship between the two nations, calling both responsible global actors committed to the welfare of their people. He stressed that prosperity stems from peace and stability — a shared goal of both Islamabad and Beijing.

“Pakistan and China are working together for regional peace. Terrorism aims to hinder progress, but we continue to fight this menace,” he said, adding that China’s rapid development despite a massive population offers valuable lessons for the world. “Our people too aspire for progress and stability,” he remarked.

Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif concluded by emphasizing Pakistan’s peaceful aspirations: “Our first priority is peace. If you walk through the streets of Pakistan today, you’ll see celebrations of peace, not conquest. You’ll find humanity and humility among our people — and gratitude toward the Almighty for the blessings of peace.”
