Federal Government Appoints Malik Liaquat Ali as Azad Kashmir IG

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – The federal government has appointed Captain (retd) Malik Liaquat Ali as the new Inspector General (IG) of Azad Kashmir Police. Currently serving as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in Punjab Police, Malik Liaquat Ali will take charge following the transfer of IG Rana Abdul Jabbar, who is currently attending the National Management Course.

The Establishment Division has formally issued the notification confirming the appointment and transfer of the IG Police for the Azad Kashmir government.

While earlier, Dr. Usman Anwar has been relieved of his duties as Inspector General (IG) of Punjab Police, and Rao Abdul Kareem has been appointed as the new IG Punjab, sources confirmed.

According to officials, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz approved Rao Abdul Kareem’s appointment. Earlier reports had suggested CCPO Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamiana and Waseem Sial as strong contenders for the position.

Police sources indicate that Dr. Usman Anwar may be appointed as Secretary Interior or take up a federal role. The federal government has reportedly requested his services, and he is expected to be appointed as Director General (DG) of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

Dr. Usman Anwar brings extensive experience from his tenure in the FIA and has served as IG Punjab for the past three years, overseeing law enforcement in the province.
