A significant gas deposit has been discovered in Sindh’s Khairpur district.
Located in the Savon South Block, this new find is projected to produce an impressive one crore standard cubic feet of gas per day from the newly drilled wells.
The Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) announced the discovery in a letter to the Pakistan Stock Exchange, highlighting its potential to strengthen the country’s energy security and increase gas reserves at a time of rising energy demand.
The OGDCL’s letter also noted that both provincial and federal companies hold a 2.5% stake in the venture.
Industry experts have emphasized the importance of this new gas supply, which could help mitigate the country’s ongoing energy crisis, driven by increasing consumption and volatile global energy prices.
