Power outages were reported as a direct result of the quake. Energex, Queensland’s state-run energy distributor, said around 11,000 properties temporarily lost electricity. Crews are working to restore services as quickly as possible.
Residents described the shaking as sudden but brief, prompting many to take safety precautions. Officials continue to monitor the region for possible aftershocks and advise communities to remain alert.
Emergency services emphasized preparedness and safety, urging citizens to follow standard earthquake safety measures. The event serves as a reminder of the seismic activity in eastern Australia, though significant damage is uncommon.
