Madhubala to Reunite with Elephant Companions at Karachi Safari Park

Karachi-Exciting news for animal lovers in Karachi! Madhubala, the 19-year-old African elephant, will soon be reunited with her companions Malika and Sonia at the Safari Park, thanks to the tireless efforts of the UAE Consul General, H.E. Dr. Bakheet Ateeq Alremeithi. This relocation marks a significant milestone in ensuring the well-being of Madhubala, who has been living alone at the Karachi Zoo since the passing of her sister, Noorjehan, in April 2023 ¹ ².

The journey to relocate Madhubala has been a long and challenging one. After Noorjehan’s tragic death, animal welfare organizations, including FOUR PAWS, intensified their efforts to find a new home for Madhubala ². The UAE Consul General, Dr. Alremeithi, played a pivotal role in making this relocation possible. Not only did he arrange urgent medications for Madhubala on two separate occasions, but he also personally visited the elephants to assess their living conditions ³.

During his visit, Dr. Alremeithi planted a tree, symbolizing the UAE’s commitment to animal welfare and conservation efforts in Pakistan. This gesture highlights the importance of caring for wildlife and the UAE’s dedication to supporting conservation initiatives in the region.

Madhubala’s relocation to the Safari Park is scheduled to take place by November 2024. The park will provide a more suitable environment for Madhubala, with improved living conditions and the company of her fellow elephants, Malika and Sonia ³. This move will not only enhance Madhubala’s quality of life but also promote awareness about the importance of animal welfare and conservation.

The relocation of Madhubala serves as a shining example of the power of collaboration and compassion. It demonstrates that, with collective efforts, we can make a significant difference in the lives of animals in need. As we eagerly await Madhubala’s reunion with her companions, we are reminded of the importance of caring for our planet’s incredible creatures and preserving their well-being for generations to come.
