Pakistan’s intelligence landscape is set for a significant shift with the appointment of Lieutenant General Muhammad Asim Malik as the new Director General of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). Effective September 30, Lt. Gen. Malik will spearhead the country’s premier spy agency.
A seasoned military leader, Lt. Gen. Malik brings a wealth of experience to his new role. His command tenure in volatile regions, including Balochistan and Waziristan, has equipped him with invaluable insights into counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism strategies.
A distinguished graduate, Lt. Gen. Malik’s academic credentials are marked by excellence. His teaching stints at prestigious institutions have honed his analytical skills, while his tenure as Adjutant General at the General Headquarters has refined his administrative acumen.

Lt Gen Asim is a graduate of Fort Leavenworth and the Royal College of Defense Studies.
Lieutenant General Asim has also served in the Military Operations Directorate in the past.
