Light rainfall sweeps Karachi, bringing much-needed relief from rising heat
Light rain cools Karachi as weather alert stays in place
Karachi – (Web Desk) – Light rain fell in different parts of Karachi on Thursday morning. It gave people some relief from the warm weather. This came a day after an alert was issued about a coming spell of rain.
Drizzle started in areas like Saddar, Clifton, MA Jinnah Road, and the Old City. Later, the rain moved towards northern areas, including North Karachi, New Karachi, and Surjani Town.
Before the rain began, strong winds hit the city. The rain was not heavy, but it made the weather feel cooler. In some places, cool winds also blew along with the showers.
There were no reports of any major problems in the city. However, light rain may continue in some areas.
Earlier, the weather department had already shared this forecast. It said that Karachi and other cities like Thatta, Badin, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Dadu, Kashmore, Jacobabad, and Larkana may see rain and thunderstorms on March 25, 26, 28, and 29.
After the warning, the disaster management authority asked its teams to stay ready. All machines and staff have been kept on alert.
Officials also warned that strong winds and hail could damage weak buildings and solar panels. The temperature is also expected to drop.
People have been advised to stay safe and avoid unnecessary travel. Tourists should be careful, and farmers should take steps to protect their crops.
The alert was issued after a meeting led by the Sindh Chief Secretary. He asked all local officers to stay active in the field for the next seven days.
Authorities have been told to keep drainage systems ready, manage traffic, and remove unsafe billboards. Awareness messages are also being shared so people can stay prepared.
The weather office has also warned that rain, strong winds, and thunderstorms may affect many parts of the country until March 30.
As per the forecast, a western weather system is expected to enter parts of Balochistan and intensify by the night of March 27.
Under its influence, wet spells are likely in Balochistan’s Panjgur, Turbat, Kech, Awaran, Gwadar, Pasni, Marwar, and other districts including Lasbela, Khuzdar, Chagai, Dalbandin, Kalat, Sibi, Kohlu, Quetta, Barkhan, Naseerabad, Loralai, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qila Abdullah, Qila Saifullah, Nushki, Harnai, Zhob, Qalat, and Mastung.
The PMD, in its latest forecast, said that northern and northwestern regions will also be affected by the system, and rainfall is expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Shangla, Kohistan, Malakand, Buner, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Balakot, Haripur, Mardan, Nowshera, Kurram, Sawabi, Charsadda, Kohat, Hangu, Karak, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Tank, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, and Dera Ismail Khan.
Rain brings pleasant weather to Lahore, more showers expected soon
In Punjab, showers are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, and Jhelum, Attock, Chakwal, Sargodha, Mianwali, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Khushab, Virkan, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Lahore, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Narowal, Pakpattan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bhakkar, Multan, Kot Addu, Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, Bahawalnagar, and Rahim Yar Khan between March 25 and 30.
Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) are also expected to receive rain during this period, the weather department concluded.
