Life in Islamabad Returns to Normal After PTI Protests
Life in Islamabad has returned to normal after four days of disruption caused by protests from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) at D-Chowk. The containers that blocked roads and bridges have been cleared and moved to the side.
Public transport has resumed its regular services, although the Islamabad Metro Bus remains partially suspended, while the Rawalpindi service has been fully reinstated.
Roads and major thoroughfares in Islamabad, which were closed since October 3 due to the PTI protests, have now reopened. The containers obstructing key routes in Islamabad and Rawalpindi have been removed after the four-day standoff.
Government offices, private businesses, and schools have resumed operations. Traffic is moving smoothly on major roads such as Jinnah Avenue, Express Highway, Srinagar Highway, and Faizabad.
However, the Red Zone remains restricted at Serena Chowk, Nadra Chowk, and D-Chowk, with government employees and the public redirected to use Margalla Road as an alternative route.
The Islamabad Metro Bus service is still partially halted, although the Rawalpindi service is fully operational again. Authorities confirmed that the Rawalpindi Metro Bus service has resumed its route from the main station to Faizabad, but the segment from Faizabad to the Pakistan Secretariat remains suspended. This suspension was reportedly ordered by the district administration.
