LHC to Hear Petition Seeking Disqualification of Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi from Senate Seat

Mohsin Naqvi assumed the role of PCB Chairman in February 2024, elected during the tenure of the Caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab.

Lahore: The Lahore High Court is set to hear a petition tomorrow seeking the disqualification of Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi from his Senate seat, citing his dual role as Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Acting Chief Justice Shujaat Ali Khan will preside over the hearing, addressing objections raised in the petition filed by Mishkoor Hussain through legal expert Nadeem Sarwar Advocate.

The petition argues that Mohsin Naqvi, while serving as PCB Chairman at the time of filing his Senate nomination papers, violates Article 63 of the Constitution, which prohibits dual offices for senators.

The petitioner seeks a court order to remove Mohsin Naqvi from his senatorial position based on these constitutional grounds.

Mohsin Naqvi, elected as an independent senator from Punjab in the April 2024 elections, faces scrutiny over his eligibility due to his concurrent role in the PCB.
