LHC gives relief to electricity consumers on quarterly adjustment tariff
PM exempts consumers of 300 units from fuel price adjustment,
Prime Minister’s big announcement for electricity consumers as he exempted consumers from fuel price adjustment up to 300 units.
According to the PM Shehbaz addressed the parliamentarians and legislators of his party, the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) on Thursday.
The PM announced that the fuel price adjustment in electricity bills will not be charged to those using 300 units.
It is worth mentioning here that the PM had initially abolished fuel price adjustments up to 200 units.
Addressing the party members, the PM assured that his government will support every affectee of the floods as Pakistan is facing the worst flood of its history.
Shehbaz Sharif said the prices of crude oil was become expensive soon after coming into power while the International Monitory Fund (IMF) also refused to hold talks with us on violating the commitment from the previous government of Imran Khan.
When it was confirmed that the PTI government will be ended, an officer suggested Imran Khan as PM at that time to reduce oil prices in the country to create hurdles for the new government, he said.
He added that Imran’s government did not buy gas when it was cheap at the rate of $3. The previous government did not bother to lift the living standard of the common man.
Meanwhile, Lahore High Court (LHC) has given interim relief to the electricity consumers on quarterly adjustment tariffs and allowed the petitioners cum power users to submit their bills after deducting the amount of the adjustment tariff.
According to the citizen Sher Ali and some other consumers of electricity approached the court against the quarterly adjustment tariff added to the electricity bills.
Justice Shahid Waheed heard the petitions while Barrister Taimur Mateen appeared on behalf of the petitioners and challenged the quarterly adjustment tariff included in the electricity bills.
Barrister Taimur argued that the NEPRA fixed the quarterly adjustment tariff in the electricity bills on June 16, 2022, and August 12, 2022, under Section 31 of the authority without fulfilling the legal requirements of sub-clause 7 of the same section.
The court sought a response from the federal government, the Ministry of Energy, and other electricity distribution companies.
The court directed to combine all the similar applications and set them for a hearing on September 14.
