Red Sea US Aircraft Carrier- (Web Desk) – Two crew members on the USS Gerald R. Ford, the world’s largest aircraft carrier, were injured on Thursday. The fire started in the ship’s main laundry.
The US Navy said the fire was not related to combat. It was quickly contained. Both sailors are receiving medical treatment. Their injuries are not life-threatening, and they are in stable condition.
The Navy confirmed that the ship is fully operational. There was no damage to its engines or main systems.
The USS Gerald R. Ford is currently in the Red Sea. It is part of Operation Epic Fury, the US bombing campaign on Iran that began on February 28.
The laundry episode was not the first mishap reported from the nuclear-powered giant, which was ordered to the Middle East right after a months-long mission in the Caribbean that culminated with the January operation by US forces to seize Venezuela’s leader Nicolas Maduro.
