Latham Century Puts NZ in Command

Christchurch: Tom Latham hit his 14th Test century as New Zealand tightened their grip on the first Test against the West Indies in Christchurch.
At tea on day three, New Zealand reached 233-2, extending their overall lead to 297 runs. Latham remained 100 not out from 179 balls, his first century in 40 innings, while Rachin Ravindra scored an aggressive 70 off 75 deliveries in a 133-run partnership.

The West Indies, already 64 behind after the first innings, are facing a record fourth-innings chase at Hagley Oval—the current record being New Zealand’s 285-8 against Sri Lanka.

Earlier, Latham partnered Devon Conway (37) in an 84-run opening stand, and added a short stint with Kane Williamson (9). His only real scare was an LBW appeal on 54, overturned on replay.
