Islamabad: Land Issue to be Resolved According to People’s Wishes: CM GB. Gilgit-Baltistan, Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan, Haji Gulbar Khan, presided over a high-level meeting to addressing longstanding land reforms issues. Emphasizing the importance of community involvement, the Chief Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to resolving the land problem according to the wishes of the people.
During the meeting, Chairman Forum of Initiatives and Reforms Gilgit-Baltistan, Amjad Hussain Advocate, briefed attendees on essential reforms across various sectors, including land. The provincial government prioritized the agricultural and livestock sectors, aiming to introduce modern reforms tailored to contemporary needs.
Key initiatives include providing facilities and modern technology to farmers and dairy farmers, as well as facilitating access to modern machinery through Public-Private Partnerships. The Department of Agriculture will undergo enhancements, with improved research areas and expanded zoning for agricultural promotion.
A groundbreaking concept of “One Village, One Product” aims to streamline agricultural production and develop value chains. Additionally, a significant portion of the upcoming year’s Annual Development Plan (ADP) will be allocated to the agriculture sector, with a focus on promoting wheat cultivation and supporting local farmers.
The recommendations put forth by the Gilgit-Baltistan Forum of Initiatives and Reforms will be thoroughly reviewed in relevant committees, signaling a proactive approach to implement necessary reforms. Senior officers, including the Senior Member Board of Revenue (SMBR) and Secretary Law, attended the meeting, underscoring the government’s commitment to meaningful progress and inclusive development in Gilgit-Baltistan.
