Lahore, The Lahore Press Club (LPC) President, Arshad Ansari, has announced a boycott of all assemblies, government events, functions, and press conferences in protest against the implementation of the defamation bill.
Ansari stated that the LPC will challenge the bill in the higher courts, emphasizing their right to peaceful protest as guaranteed by the Constitution. He condemned the bill as an infringement on the freedom of expression enshrined in the Constitution of 1973.
Ansari further warned the government that the implementation of the bill could lead to legal action and a resurgence of protests. He indicated that a meeting of the joint action committee would be held to discuss further measures.
