Lahore Police Arrest Six PTI Lawyers Amid Protests at GPO Chowk
Lahore police detained six lawyers associated with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) during a protest held at GPO Chowk on Saturday.
The demonstration was part of a larger protest organized by PTI to express their discontent with the government’s actions. Tensions heightened when the police later began using tear gas inside the Aiwan-e-Adl premises to control the situation.
As protesters gathered outside the Aiwan-e-Adl in large numbers, including both PTI workers and lawyers, law enforcement resorted to tear gas shelling to disperse them. The protest escalated as the police started arresting participants after a brief standoff with the demonstrators, who were chanting slogans in opposition.
In the midst of the commotion, senior PTI leader Salman Akram Raja, who was present at GPO Chowk, managed to leave the area in a vehicle just before the police crackdown began on the lawyers and PTI supporters.
The protest saw a heavy police presence, with authorities making efforts to restore order. The use of tear gas heightened tensions between the demonstrators and the police, leading to skirmishes in the area. As the situation unfolded, PTI supporters continued their demonstrations across Lahore, while additional police forces were deployed outside Aiwan-e-Adl to manage the unrest.
