LAHORE: The Lahore High Court has directed the police to expedite efforts to recover Ghulam Shabbir, brother of PTI leader Dr. Shehbaz Gul.
Justice Amjad Rafiq presided over the hearing of the petition filed for Shabbir’s recovery, with Punjab Home Secretary Nurul Amin Mengal, DIG Operations Faisal Kamran, and other officials in attendance.
The public prosecutor informed the court that geo-fencing data had been obtained as per the court’s order on Monday and is currently under analysis. Justice Rafiq questioned the accessibility of agency numbers, with the Punjab Interior Secretary clarifying that WhatsApp calls can be traced, while regular calls cannot.
Despite efforts, DIG Operations admitted to being unable to locate Shabbir, prompting Justice Rafiq to remark on their apparent helplessness and to pray for Shabbir’s safe return.
The petitioner’s lawyer highlighted that Ghulam Shabbir was detained en route to Islamabad and expressed concerns for his safety, urging the court to mandate his immediate recovery.
