Lahore High Court Issues Stringent SOPs to Shield Judiciary from Interference
Lahore: Justice Shahid Karim of the Lahore High Court has laid down a comprehensive 5-point SOP to safeguard judicial independence and prevent interference.
Justice Karim’s directive, detailed in a four-page interim order, also appoints Hina Hafeezullah as a judicial assistant. The SOPs mandate that the Prime Minister’s Office issue strict instructions to sensitive institutions, prohibiting any form of contact with judges or their staff within both the high and subordinate judiciary.
The order stipulates that any security measures concerning Anti-Terrorism Courts (ATC) must be implemented only after consultation and agreement with the respective judges. Additionally, Special Terrorism Courts are instructed to prioritize all cases related to the events of May 9.

Justice Karim further emphasized the need for full cooperation from judicial staff in the ongoing investigation involving the ATC judge in Sargodha. The SOPs require that the investigation be recorded on video and submitted to the investigating High Court, with an implementation report due by July 8.
